The principles of Talentism are offered as an way to get us out of the inefficient, dehumanizing and ineffective methods of the modern corporation.
These principles are not feel-good mantras of people who want to avoid the stress of modern business. In fact, as you will see, the principles seek to put people closer to customer demands, pay only for success and reward agility in the face of changing market conditions. I would propose (humbly, of course) that these principles are in fact more "capitalist and competitive" than the bureaucratic collectivist thinking that we experience inside of most organizations on a daily worker basis.
The structure that is developed through the operationalization of these principles actually decreases waste and increases margins while creating and sustaining a system of work and organization that supports happier human beings who are more in control of their own destinies and experiencing greater personal fulfillment through an alignment of their personal objectives and the stated goals of their enterprise.
The eleven operational principles of Talentism are as follows:
- Unleash the Inner Entrepreneur
- Purpose before Profit
- Information before Ignorance
- Investors before Shareholders
- HR before Finance
- Markets not Managers
- Value not Title
- Businesses not Departments
- Consultants not Accountants
- Always Operate from True Cost
We will spend the next two weeks exploring these principles in greater depth. Again, each one of these is in practice inside the organization I "manage" (the businesses in which I invest).
Tomorrow: "Part 3 - Unleash the Inner
Entrepreneur"
